Before you decide what you need to do today, this short grounding practice invites a different question: How do you want to show up for yourself and for others?
The practice begins simply by noticing where the breath feels most present. From there, awareness moves toward the feet and the sensation of being connected to the earth. You are invited to imagine drawing energy upward through your feet, planting yourself firmly and allowing a sense of rootedness to form.
Listen to the full practice here (~10min).
This meditation comes from a live Journey You Own Meditation Gathering, so you may notice natural pauses and gentle references to the shared practice. Allow those spaces to be part of your own experience, giving you time to feel the breath, the body, and the ground beneath you.
This grounding is not only about becoming still. It creates a place from which you can receive.
“Become present to how the energy flows in your body with each breath, from the soles of your feet, which are grounded to the earth, all the way to the crown of your head.”
There is a quiet balance within that image. The earth supports you from below. Warmth and light arrive from above. You do not have to generate everything on your own before you enter the day. For a few moments, you can simply notice what it feels like to receive support.
Only then does the practice turn toward intention.
How do you want to show up for others, and for yourself?
Maybe today that means patience. Maybe it is curiosity, steadiness, openness, or care. There is no need to search for the perfect word. The invitation is to let the question arise after you have first returned to the body.
That sequence matters. Sometimes we try to choose how we want to show up while already rushing, tense, or mentally several steps into the day. This practice offers a different starting point. Ground first. Receive support. Then notice what way of being feels available from there.
The practice returns to that sense of rootedness before you move back into the day. It begins and ends with a bell as a gentle cue, creating a small boundary around the time you have given yourself to pause and reconnect.
After listening, you might reflect on:
- What helped you feel most supported during the practice?
- How did grounding first affect the way you thought about your intention?
- What could help you reconnect with that grounded feeling later today?

You do not have to meet the day already full of energy, certainty, or answers. Sometimes the first thing is simply to notice what is holding you, receive what is available, and begin from there.
