How you want to show up today can tell you something about what matters to you.
If you choose patience, perhaps something in you values listening more closely. If you choose courage, there may be a commitment to speaking honestly or staying present when something feels difficult. This morning meditation invites you to explore that deeper connection between intention and commitment before carrying it into the day ahead.
Listen to the full practice here (~9 min).
This meditation comes from a live Journey You Own Meditation Gathering, so you may hear natural pauses and gentle references to practicing together. Give yourself permission to use those quiet spaces in whatever way feels supportive.
The practice begins by bringing awareness to the breath and where you feel it most clearly in the body. You might notice the belly, chest, shoulders, neck, or face. There is no particular place where you are supposed to feel it. The invitation is simply to become curious about what is already happening and allow any unnecessary tension to soften as you settle.
How do you want to show up for the world?
Your answer might be presence, curiosity, patience, courage, care, or something entirely different. Rather than leaving your intention as an idea, this practice invites you to imagine yourself actually living it. What would it look like to move through your day in that way? What do you notice in your body when you picture yourself showing up with that quality?
An intention can offer a clue about something you care deeply about. You may want to show up with patience because you are committed to being more available to the people around you. You may choose curiosity because you want to understand before making assumptions. You may choose steadiness because you are committed to meeting a challenging day without abandoning yourself.
There is no need to find the perfect explanation. This is less about analyzing your intention and more about noticing what it may be pointing toward. When you connect the way you want to be with something that matters to you, the intention can begin to feel more personal and grounded.
In that way, the meditation moves from a simple question about the day toward something deeper: Who do I want to be, and what does that tell me about what I care about?
The meditation begins and ends with a bell as a gentle cue. At the close, you are invited to take a few deeper breaths and reconnect with the body before returning to your morning.
After listening, you might reflect on:
- What intention feels most meaningful to you today?
- What commitment might be underneath that intention?
- Is there an aspiration or wish you would like to carry with you?
If you want to stay with this theme, you might also explore:
You do not have to hold your intention perfectly throughout the day. Let it be something you can remember and return to, a quiet reminder of both how you want to show up and why that way of being matters to you.
