Each day begins with a choice. Before conversations unfold and responsibilities call for your attention, there is a quiet opportunity to pause and ground yourself.
Listen to the full practice here (~10 min).
This recording comes from a live Journey You Own Meditation Gathering. Natural pauses and references to shared practice may be present, reflecting the rhythm of meditating together in community. Note that the practice begins and ends with a bell, offering a gentle cue for entering and completing the meditation.
The simple act of sitting for meditation reflects a commitment to practice. That same quality of commitment can extend into your day. You are invited to reflect on how you are entering the day and what you are taking a stand for.
What commitment feels present for you right now?
How do you want to show up?
What intention would support that commitment?
Rather than holding this only as a mental idea, the practice encourages you to frame your commitment and intention as an aspiration. A wish. A declaration that you offer outward, while also noticing how it lands in your body.
After setting this aspiration, attention returns to the breath and the feet. The body becomes the container for your commitment. The breath and the sensations of grounding serve as anchors that you can return to throughout the day.
When moments of distraction or challenge arise, you can reconnect to the breath at the nostrils or the steady support beneath your feet. These anchors gently remind you of the intention you set and the commitment you chose.
The practice closes with a few quiet moments to notice the experience of being in a grounded body while holding a clear aspiration. From this place, you transition into your day.
“The act of coming to practice reflects a commitment. Let your day reflect that same commitment.”
After listening, you might reflect on
- What commitment feels most alive for you right now?
- How does your body respond when you declare that commitment?
- Which anchor, breath or feet, feels most accessible during your day?
