As the days grow shorter and darkness arrives a little earlier, something in us often shifts too. The pace of summer begins to fade, and the quieter months invite a different kind of attention. Instead of being pulled outward, there is a gentle invitation to look within, to reflect, and to ask what this season is opening up for us.
This meditation offers a space to do just that. It is a guided practice that weaves together breath, grounding, and seasonal reflection, inviting you to consider what you are ready to let go of and how you want to show up during this time of year.
Listen to the full practice here (~25 min).
This recording comes from a live Journey You Own Meditation Gathering, so you may occasionally hear brief pauses or gentle references to the group. These are all part of the shared practice space and are intentionally left in to honor the live experience.
From that grounded place, the meditation gently opens into inquiry. Drawing on the imagery of fall and winter, you are invited to reflect on what this season is offering you. Just as trees let go of their leaves, you are asked to consider:
What am I ready to let go of?
What thoughts, patterns, or conversations am I ready to release, while remaining rooted?
There is no need to force an answer. The practice simply creates space for whatever arises. You may notice emotions, sensations in the body, or images in the mind. The breath becomes a companion here. With each exhale, you can imagine letting something go. With each inhale, you can sense the quiet invitation of this season, the possibility of a new way of being.
Grounding remains an important thread. You are invited to feel the soles of your feet and to visualize roots extending into the earth, offering stability and support as you explore these reflections. From this rootedness, the practice guides you toward setting an aspiration or quiet declaration for the months ahead. Not a rigid resolution, but a gentle commitment to how you wish to show up during this season of stillness. The session closes with gratitude, bringing to mind the beings, situations, or experiences that you are thankful for.
After listening, you might reflect on:
- What feels ready to fall away in this season of my life?
- How does it feel in my body when I imagine being more rooted and grounded?
- What quiet aspiration or commitment am I placing out to the universe for this winter?
